What will they do?
Bill Gates is retiring.
Narayan Murthy is retiring.
In a way I liked their decision. Because I wonder how long they can be interested on things they have been involved or more than involved throughout their life. Bill Gates is 51 now, and by the time he will retire, that is after two years, assuming what was in News paper was correct, he will be 53. Murthy is already 60 now. So they have already lived almost two third of their life. So a welcome decision.
But now the question is what they will do?
Gates has identified things that he will like to do. he wants to be get associated with his wife Melinda, and help her with her foundation.
Murthy has not said anything. But we all know he also has a choice similar to Gate here.
In a way this is not a big and new question as everybody of there age retires. But as they have made big, really big. So this is really a big question. personally I have been always interetsed in questions like this, and I do have my own idea as to what sort of thing a man- a normal man should do after retirement. Sometimes contradictory, but I do have valid argument for all of the choice, and I really can not argue against any choice.
Now coming back to Gates-Murthy.
Both of them could have continued business for valid reason. And I really can not argue againt this. Now I must add that I dont find the logic that they have been succesful in this endeavour so they should continue of very much value. I don't know when but just recently I understood why do people say they want to die their boots on. I must have read this at least 10 years ago first time. From that time till recently I thought it foolish. But now I understand it, and think it as a beautiful thought. So I wont dare to say a word on it.
Now Gate-Murthy might do social service also. This is a good idea. Good way to die serving society. A really great option for them. But again I wont say a word against of their decisiojn if they plan to go against this great idea.
They can get into Politics. And I have the same take on this also.
They might plan to become- or to prove themselves- a good husband, a good father, and do nothing (a debatable choice of word). Again i find it a great idea.
But whatever they should do, they shouldn't do that for money. I am sure a person of middle class upbringing like Murthy does not know the ways t to spend money also. So no point trying to earn more.
And I would really love it if Murthy like Gates does not pass all his hard earned money to his son and daughter. A father must give his child a chance to fight, and make a man of himself rather than helping him out lavishly. I love this concept.
So I guess the writing has been extremely incoherent. But the thing is that its 1:48 of morning, so i want to sleep as quickly as possible.
