Helping People
Human is the only animal that beleive in helping each other. Sometimes, not always, they go by emotions, not by logic, and they do things that are not rewarding in materialistic term. They sacrifice. And sacrifice is certainly a beautiful word. Here I will put two examples, certainly not the best to prove the point, but somehow they are dear to me.
1: Sri Lankan cricketer Arvinda Desilva once defined cricket by telling a story. And this is not about cricket, but it is about sports- and we all know that any sport is not just a sport. It's not just physical, or sometimes mental, exercise. It is a exercise of human emotion......
So the story of Desilva was of kid who at the age of 8 wanted to be a sportsman. At the age of 10 he had started enjoying cricket really well. And he thinks that he is the best player among his friends. times go by. At the age of 12 he now believes that he is among the best in his village/district. So he decides: he will play for his country. He starts working hard. Now For the next four years not a single minute has gone by in which he had no thought of cricket. At the age of 18 the sweat trailing down his face which was sour by that time suddenly tastes sweet to him, and he finds that he has been selected for his country. So this was the moment that came to him after 60*60*24*365**10 many moments of struggle, prayer.
now he is playing the first match of his life. he is confidant. The three balls, he middles the ball. rock solid defence and he seems to be in good knick. The fourth ball, he pushes it to mid on to wards the fielder. he know that their is no run in it. Suddenly he realizes that the batsmen at the bowlers end-- a senior and set batsman-- is in mid pitch. And he ceratainly not going to make it.But suddenly after a step and two he realizes that he wont be able to reach make it. he will get out. So our player, who knows that this is ahrd earned chance for him, and he shouldn't let go an opportunity. and that if he fails in this inning he wont get chance in the next match. may be in the series..may be he would not get selectd for his country again. But he is a sportsman so he runs with his full energy. He runs to sacrifice his wicket, he runs to nullify the 10 years of arduous struggle. he runs to become an unknown in his life.
so the first incident is over. Now i wont write about the second incident which is about army. these are the field that has examples when it comes to sacrifice. Though i set to write a completely different thing. but was not able to finish it off the context setting also. any way it's already 1:30..
